Through the years I have found several great websites that offer just about anything you need to build a website. There are hundreds of tutorial sites for Adobe Photoshop, websites that offer royalty free graphics and clipart, sites that offer code for forms, guestbooks, blogs, and forums, and so much more. I've compiled a list of my frequently visited sites. There should be enough here to get you started. If you know of other sites that should be included, don't hesitate to

If you like my website and would like to know how I made the graphics, etc., just hit the Contact The Crazy Lady Button. I'd be happy to help!
Useful Tips Learned by The Crazy Lady
1. Keeping the look and feel of your website pages uniform helps to keep the load time of your website down to a reasonable rate. Do some research to find the standard image sizes used on the Internet. See what other people are doing. GIFs are generally smaller in size than JPEGs but you get better quality with JPEG. If you have a good image editor like Adobe Photoshop, you'll be able to retain the quality with small sizes.
2. Take the time to plan your site on paper. Keep it organized. Build a separate page for each topic included in your website. One of the things I do to stay organized is create a folder for each website page on my hard drive. I then place the html page and all the graphics for that page in a folder.
3. Use the main page to give a brief explanation of each of the topics with links to the topic pages. Stay away from shoving all your information on one page. I, for one, find 10 foot long pages extremely annoying. They make me go away.
4. The main page of your website should let your visitors know exactly what you are offering. Be sure to include easy-to-understand links for navigation throughout your site.
5. Frames. Personally, I think frames are not browser-friendly. They're not very appealing to the eye and they really aren't very professional looking. That's my opinion, anyway.
6. Always check your spelling and grammer. Also, make sure all your links on all your pages work correctly. If there are a lot of errors, your site screams UNPROFESSIONAL (excuse the shouting) and most visitors will go away.
7. View your website through different browsers and screen resolutions. You might be surprised at the differences.
8. Try not to use large fonts. Again, very unprofessional.
9. Okay, this one is extremely important. Avoid using the standard table borders...they are ugly! There are tutorials all over the Internet that will show you how to apply color to your table borders.
10. Do a lot of research when deciding on a domain name. There's lots of information out there on the Internet. Tried and true methods for choosing a domain name that will help in the pursuit of good search engine placement.
11. Do a lot of research when deciding on a domain registrar and host for your website. The good hosting companies will offer the option to purchase a domain name in a standard hosting package. For these companies, the competition is fierce, which means the rates are amazingly affordable. Fatcow.com is the host for Kim's Crazy Universe. They offer a TON of features, all included in one extremely low rate. Very cool.
Most of all, just enjoy yourself. If things seem difficult, you are not alone. Just do a lot of research. I don't think there's ever been a time that I couldn't find an answer on the Internet. You can learn so much!
